The Role
The Sales Analyst is a new role within the growing Commercial organisation at Norton. The role will be responsible for building and then developing the company’s sales reporting capabilities: including data preparation, front-end reporting and analysis. Once reporting systems have been put in place, the Sales Analyst will ensure that retail sales performance data has high visibility and utilisation across the Norton organisation; and is presented in an accessible, visually appealing and insightful way.
The role will also be responsible for supporting with ad hoc analysis to answer questions relating to sales performance from across the company.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Work with third-parties to build the Norton organisation’s reporting capabilities (including data preparation, front-end reporting and analysis)
- Support with the implementation and regular delivery of production, sales, wholesales and inventory tracking (of motorcycles and associated products). This will include identifying any current or potential future issues, highlighting potential opportunity areas, and ensuring the smooth management of stock from production through to retail sale
- Deliver ad-hoc analysis of sales data that answers questions from across the Norton organisation (including producing insights and recommendations for senior leadership)
- Provide timing plans to ensure that motorcycles sold have defined delivery/handover dates and can be tracked against expected timings
- Perform sales forecasting on a regular basis, using internal data, as well as regular conversations with internal stakeholders (production, sales, quality, field management)
- Support with long-term volume planning exercises that identify volume targets for future product
- Support with implementation and delivery of dealer-territory level reporting and analysis
- Conduct network analysis using third-party systems to identify potential new retail locations
- Conduct pricing analysis to identify optimal price positioning for new model launches
- Support with sales-related ad-hoc requests from within the Commercial organisation at Norton.
Personal Specification
Essential
- Strong understanding of retail reporting and analysis
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- High degree of numeracy and analysis
- Experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously / multi-tasking
- Able to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- A Bachelor’s degree with 2:1 or above
Desirable
- Some understanding of the automotive/motorcycle industry (particularly commercial operations)
- Knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, R and/or Python
- Knowledge of PowerBI and/or Tableau
- Strong ability to manipulate and visualise data
- An understanding of (or a strong desire to learn more about) advanced data analytics and statistical techniques
- Inquisitive and curious, with a desire to learn more about Insights
